A FORTIFIED Roof™ is built following the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) standards, designed to strengthen homes against hurricanes, high winds, and hail. It includes specific installation methods and materials to prevent roof damage and water intrusion.
While both use durable metal panels, a Fortified metal roof meets stricter installation standards — such as sealed roof decks, ring-shank nails, peel-and-stick underlayment, and enhanced edge systems — to better withstand hurricane-force winds and wind-driven rain.
A properly installed metal roof can last 40–70 years, and the Fortified upgrades further extend its durability and performance during severe weather.
Yes. Many insurers in coastal and hurricane-prone states offer premium discounts or credits for Fortified-certified homes because they reduce potential damage claims.
If you notice missing shingles, leaks, sagging areas, or water stains on your ceiling, it’s time to have your roof inspected. Most roofs last 15–25 years, depending on materials and exposure to weather. Storm damage can also shorten that lifespan.
We install asphalt shingles, standing seam and classic metal roofs, and Fortified roofing systems that meet IBHS hurricane-resistant standards. Every roof is built to local code and designed to protect your home from Gulf Coast conditions.
A typical installation includes:
• Removal and disposal of your old roof
• Inspection and repair of decking
• Installation of underlayment (peel & stick or felt)
• Proper flashing, ridge vents, and drip edge
• Your chosen roofing material
• Full site cleanup and final inspection
Most residential roofs are completed in 1–3 days, depending on the size, weather, and material type. Larger or more complex roofs (like metal or fortified systems) may take 3–5 days.
Yes. We remove all old roofing materials down to the decking to inspect the structure beneath. This ensures your new roof is built on a solid, damage-free foundation.
The extreme heat and strong sunlight make shingles expand, contract, and age faster. Over time, this can cause cracking, curling, and loss of granules, which shortens your roof’s life.
Alabama’s humidity encourages algae, moss, and mildew to grow. These can lift shingles, trap moisture, and cause rot or leaks underneath. It also makes shingles softer and weaker over time.
High winds can lift or tear off shingles, leaving the roof deck exposed. Rain can then get under the shingles and cause leaks, rot, and water damage.
When temperatures swing between hot and cold, shingles expand and contract, which can lead to cracks. In winter, trapped moisture can freeze and cause ice damage around valleys and gutters.
Watch for:
• Missing, cracked, or curling shingles
• Dark streaks or algae spots
• Granules in your gutters
• Water stains on ceilings or walls
• A sagging roofline
Proper ventilation keeps heat and moisture from getting trapped in your attic. This prevents mold, rot, and shingle damage caused by overheating or trapped humidity.
You can clean gutters and look for visible damage, but repairs should be done by a professional. Roofers have the tools and training to fix issues safely and correctly.
Routine inspections and small repairs (like replacing a few shingles or resealing flashing) prevent big problems later. This helps your roof last longer and saves money over time.
